Job Requirements: Working in our Professional/Trade Division as a Senior Editor, you will be responsible for directly supervising at least four editors (editors, associate editors and assistant editors). Responsibilities will include recruiting, hiring, training, providing feedback, and managing performance issues for on-staff as well as freelance editors. You will assist the publisher and editorial director in the big-picture strategic development of the travel brand. In addition, you will be responsible for the effective development of 7 to 10 travel books each year, including the most complicated titles in the Frommer’s and Dummies Travel series and high-profile single titles.

Ideal candidates should possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in an editorial area or more experience in other areas of publishing; strong line editing skills and editing book-length travel manuscripts; proficient use of advanced features of Word; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; strong leadership skills to effectively persuade in various aspects of project development and scheduling; superior analytical skills and judgment to identify opportunities to improve series and develop new guides; superior project management skills to juggle simultaneous projects and manage heavy work flow; experience hiring and working with writers; BA or BS degree; strong interest in travel and substantial travel experience; proficiency in at least one foreign language preferred.
