Travel writing, eh?

Hmmm.

Would that include knowing which end of a guardrail to sit on in the middle of the night without splitting your buns in half?

I didn't think so.

So where does that leave me?

[Out sitting on that guard rail, that's where]

I have a blog.

Well, gosh.

It's called "Ruthie In The Sky" and it details my irresponsible journeys around the United States and Canada.

I thumb truckers, I sleep in homeless shelters and meet all kinds of people on the road.

From Birkenstockers to barefooters...I meet them all. Every day.

Today I am in Muncie, Indiana. Home of Garfield's cartoonist, David Letterman and Ball State University.

And I am staying in the world's oldest YWCA.

But hey...what does all this have to do with travel?

Thank you for commenting, Baretta. It's nice to talk to you.

You're a piece of work and I think it was done in a basement. LOL!

As you know, my identification was stolen recently. ALL of my ID!

And getting it back isn't going to be easy!

Whatever happened to a person's word being his [or her] bond?

I googled my blog yesterday and discovered that the first listing doesn't go directly to my blog. The link leads to this forum!!!

Hmmm. Is that good?

I visited West Virginia last summer. I went to a tiny hamlet called Itman. I visited Morgantown. And I spent an afternoon in the "big city" of Charleston.

My favorite West Virginia folks live in Itman.

They're mining people. Coal is everywhere.

It's in the grass and on the shoulder of the road.

I'm hoping that you will read the post in my blog today.

And either leave me a comment [I'll post your comment in a day or two] or send me an email. Or just leave your reaction here.

Thanks and may God bless us ALL today.

Ruthie.

You got too much fuel. Put this shit in the right direction..coal mining people? West Virginia? You need to be writing this in something besides your blog. You should be taking lots of photos, doing something with this adventure you are having. The things are you write are ok for a blog but, from what I can tell you are fuckin around with a gold mine of great material to write about.

You are very NPR, This American Life. Contact them, I'd sure you can hook something up that they would broadcast. Get some kind of recording advise and get people to sing and rap and recite their stories to you. It might seem funny but you should be seriously archiving this. It will pay off later just for the memories.

And people (you know who you are) you should tune in to the shit she is writing in her blog. Real diamond in the rough kind of thing going on here. These are good travels.

Thank you, Mr. B. I have been considering my options and will take your advice to heart.

I will let you know when I hear back from NPR.

I got banned from a trucker's website and have been getting threats, as well.

How do you like that?

It's amazing to watch so-called adults revert to slime slugs right after they log-on the internet.

On the plus side, I can say that after ten-years of hitchhiking...most of the people that I've met on the road have been very mature.

And nice.

The website that banned me is upset because I have posted comments about WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON with some truckers out on the road:

Drinking, drugging and breaking a number of Federal laws.

I am in Ontario, Oregon right now which is a small-town city situated near the Idaho border.

And I'm in a holding pattern here until I move to my new home in a nearby community.

More on that soon.

And of course, there's my blog:

I am off the road right now. I've moved into an apartment in Pendleton, Oregon.

But I don't know if I'll stay.

There's sooo many complications!!!

I'll keep you updated in my blog.

I've also noticed that my karma rating is only "1."

Gosh, thanks.

I'm glad that God doesn't think like that.

Furthermore, I would like to update my profile and can't seem to find the "edit" button.

Hmmm...

...must have something to do with karma.

To edit your profile, go to "go" and "my space" and "profile". You can add/delete things there.

I finally figured-out how to update my profile. And beyond that I am now dealing with a serious medical issue involving my left foot.

So after hitchhiking from Ontario, Oregon on Monday...I am now in Salt Lake City, Utah.

And I have come to a temporary dead stop.

Read about my progress [physically and otherwise] in my blog.

UPDATE!!!

I am now in Denver, Colorado. I endured a rotten shelter situation in Salt Lake City, Utah. I also got picked-up by cops in Wyoming. And you can read all about it in my blog. I also have posted two photos [finally!~] that were sent by my friend when I was in Washington DC last September.

If you remember, I was there for a protest march and those pictures aren't your standard postcard fare! Whoa No!!!

I am going to stay here in Denver until next week and then head out to the East Coast Suspicious

So I am considered to be a "package tourist" on this website, eh?

I resent that.

I have carried big backpacks over hill over dale and up and down the freakin' dusty trail for years now!

And I feel that I deserve a much better designation.

AHEM!

That being said, I hope you all are following my retarded exploits on the road. My diary is open at the url listed below.

wow, it sounds like you were in several of the same places as me at the same time, rapid city, souix falls, and salt lake city. I went on a trip basicly hitch hiking from relatives who lived in various places across the country, great times, and some bad. those police can be a real problem, the senseless harassment is unbelievable. good luck as you continue!
