I've just added two book reviews by Norman Goldman that provide tips and resources for budding and established travel writers (and writers in general). I'm curious whether anyone has used these books (especially the Writer's Market) and if they were at all useful.

Here are the reviews and the books:

yeah, you might get lucky on a couple-- I did. But, it was for a niche magazine on a topic that I had "inside knowledge" about. As far as travel writing-- half of the listing are OUT OF BUSINESS and the other half PAY ON PUBLICATION-- no self respecting writer deals with that sort of crap--pay on pub.

I think that this is a great book for beginning writers because it gives them plenty of information about the submission process that if they didn't find out about it from other classes, or workshops, they could flail around and waste too much of their time "learning."

I also think it's a big asset for intermediate writers who don't have a staple of connections, or their own personal database of editors & publishers.

I haven't bought one in a while, but might get this new one. My favorite thing about this enormous yellow pages for writers is that when I turn through the pages I'm constantly finding markets that I didn't know about. The ideas start swirling in my head. Right now, that's just what I need, and I can't wait to get it.
