Hello all:

I used to hang around here quit a bit a few years back when I was living in China (more in the travel advice section, although I poked around quietly in this section from time-to-time), but not so much anymore unfortunately--although if anyone has any pressing questions about Seattle, feel free to ask.

Anyway, while living in China I maintained a blog; which in turn led to me writing a few stories about living in China; which in turn -- this is a lot of turns, so hopefully you aren't getting dizzy -- led to a book of stories about living in China, which in turn led to this:

Me and Chairman Mao: The Book

If you've ever wondered about what it would be like to actually live in China -- as opposed to, say, watching Bob Costas babble on about whatever while standing in front of a picture of the Great Wall -- this is the book for you. Some of the things you will learn include:

- Why China won the most medals at the Olympics.

- Why we should stop caring about what goes on in Tibet.

- How much it costs to have a live chicken fed to a tiger.

And really, if that last one doesn't pique your interest, I've got nothing else.

Anyway, as I like to put it, the book is available exclusively online -- that means I couldn't get anyone to publish it, although several agents did say it was "funny" but that they "couldn't sell it" -- under a Creative Commons license, which basically gives you the right to download, print, and/or send it to everyone you know (that last one is encouraged) at will. Also, to be fair, I should mention that one agent did say it was "funny, but not funny enough," so consider yourself warned. (I'm pretty sure he was crazy, though. I mean, he'd have to be, right?)

And … I guess that’s it. I hope you find the time to check out Me and Chairman Mao, which is guaranteed to be the best book you've ever read about living in China. (Note: Guarantee only valid if you have not read any other books about living in China.)

Oh, and naturally, if any of you do read it, feedback is encouraged.

Thanks,
Jason

That's funny, I used to read your blog until I realized you weren't updating it. I'll have to check out the new site sometime...unfortunately it's blocked in China. I need to go use a proxy.
