I'm currently a full time daily newspaper journalist. I have about four years of pretty good experience with some major papers. I have done it all, from high school sports to police-involved shooting deaths.

I would like to be a freelance travel writer and possibly eventually quit my job (which doesn't allow jack time for travel to the next state, let alone a new time zone)

I plan to write some for BootsnAll, but I was wondering:

A) How can I get in with someone like Moon, Rough Guide, Frommer's, Lonely Planet, etc.? Will my journalism experience and accuracy record aid me?

B) What magazines and newspapers would be open to an experienced journalist but novice travel writer?

Thanks!

Stephanie

You might want to check out http://www.writersdigest.com/guidelines/index.htm

It's full of writing guidelines to various publications. You sould also see if your local book has a copy of the latest Writer's Digest...it's pretty much the freelance writer's bible.

Cheers,
another Stephanie
