CALLING ALL WOMEN TRAVEL WRITERS!
Australia's newest and coolest travel/leisure/entertainment magazine is taking submissions for it's next issue. We are looking for four feature stories for the "Grrl Power" issue or WhoopWhoop. We would like the first person travel narratives to fall under the following four categories:
We will print one story from each category and are looking for three from Australia and one from anywhere in the world. Doesn't matter which category. Here are the details: Format: Please submit your stories both in the body of an email and as an attached word document. They should be emailed to jenleo_whoopwhoop@yahoo.com.au Length: 1,000-2,000 words Deadline: Aug 3, edits will take place over the next week to two weeks Payment: 3 copies of the magazine and your byline in a very cool travel mag. Hopefully we will be able to pay for stories as the magazine grows. This is the second issue! What's WHOOPWHOOP? WHOOPWHOOP is an Australian niche publication for travellers with attitude. Whether you're a local traveller exploring the wonders of your own backyard, or jetting off to Uluru for the weekend or maybe screaming up the highway Byrom Bay bound in your clapped out Kombi, or perhaps you're a global traveller escaping the grey, gloomy skies of London for an adventure Down Under, whatever trip you're on WHOOPWHOOP is for you. Distributed in all the hippest places -- cafes, restaurants, bars, clubs, music retailers, travel outlets, universities, health and fitness centres, on the streets and in the alley ways -- everywhere that's anywhere. Hey Ladies,
I see this post is still getting lots of views, the deadline for WhoopWhoop is over, and actually, that issue never got off the ground as far as I know. The publisher stopped after issue #1 and 9/11 economic fall out to go try and get some funding for future issues. If you women writers are still looking to submit some travel stories, please check out the Travelers' Tales guidelines page. All their open books are listed, as well as the one I'm editing-- a women's humor book (Hold My Purse While I...)due out Spring 2003. I am accepting stories until July 15, 2002.
