Chris and I have been talking about putting together a newsletter for BootsnAll's writers. It would come out only a few times a year, but we're trying to decide what to include. If you're a BootsnAll writer, could you please give us some ideas on things you'd like to see in a writers' newsletter?

I used to frequent the Inkspot and though it to be the best source of info out there on the matter. But there's no use now - it shut down.

I found it helpful because they had a variety of articles and most importantly, a great lead on new markets. (I heard about Boots from the Inkspot after all!)

Following in their manner, I would find it helpful to have links to articles related to travel writing and perhaps a forum similar to this one.

I have personally spent countless hours searching for new markets and find that writers putting their heads together is often the best means of finding those markets. Whether its for the beginner or for the highly paid writers, you always have to be on the lookout for those publications.

What else? Maybe more ideas and formats for query letters, author promotion, and perhaps a little info on photography.

Cheers for those Craig - definitely some good ideas.

Some other things we'd been kicking around here at BootsHQ included:

  • Recommended books on writing, travel writing anthologies, etc.

  • profiles of renown travel writers

  • profiles of *BootsnAll* writers

Those are just a few things. We were thinking of using the Writers' Newsletter partially as a way to commuicate better with our authors, to let you guys learn more about each other and other writers in the field, and get some nuts-and-bolts stuff on how to be a professional author and just a damn good storyteller. Craig's ideas defo give some more insight in that direction. Here's a page we've set up in the Writers' Guidelines that also talks a bit more about this newsie:

What else would you guys like to see? Thanks in advance for letting us know
