So I'm finally typing and editing a bunch of travel journals and I'm wondering where publish them. I've got a bunch up on BootsNall, but I'd like to have a few other places in my clip files. TravelMag is a good one, and I know World Hum, but there seems to be a lot of weird travel sites out there. I'd like a place that has good quality control (ie they dont post _everything_ they get), but that isn't obsessive about a certain travel writing style.

Suggestions?

Hi there. Look at the replies to "who are you pitching" on this very same board.

All the best.

BootsnAll recently bought a travel writing resource called Written Road. We did this because we want to support Travel Writers in other ways - not just on BootsnAll. Jen Leo is the editor and has loads of places to submit...also lotsa tips etc.

Hope this is a good resource for you.

Yup, thanks, I should have added the rest of the BnA network to my list of known sources... I'll go over the 'pitching' topic again... thanks

I am not a great photographer, even though I like to belive that I am a relatively good writer. If someone is both, well i guess he/she can try and pitch for the travel magazines published by various snooty clubs and also domestic airlines (at least indian domestic airlines do carry such stuff -- they provide the outline etc and demand high resolution crystal clear pics). My articles were rejected cause the pic quality was not too great.

I am sure such snooty clubs and domestic airline mags exist in other countries also. Happy pitching....

The 2003 Writer's Market is another great resource. It lists print and web markets, pay rates, contact info, how to get guidelines, editor tips, etc. There's also advice on some of the nuts and bolts stuff of writing too - query letters, contacting editors, the business side, etc.

Cheers, Anthony

Knowing Joe, probably more than a little of each :-)

Actually dusty, one of the next volumes I plan on getting my wee hands on, is a Poets Market - I've got loads of stuff to find a good home for.

I'll defo need to be doing up travel articles, too. As I do my own market research, I'll try to add my notes up here for you guys as well.

Cheers, Anthony
