Does anyone kiteboard or have any of you tried it out? What was your experience?

I'm thinking about taking kiteboarding lessons on the coast this summer. I've been wakeboarding once before, and can get up successfully Wink Will be wakeboarding again starting in March, so hopefully I'll have that decently down. But I haven't flown a kite since i was 7...and it was a kiddie kite...

Any tips, tricks, hints, warnings, stories?

Kiteboarding = thrilling, scary, awesome.

No hints, tips, warnings or suggestions, except, "GO FOR IT!" It's a huge rage that is only getting more popular, I think.

Anywhere you find parasailing, you'll find kiteboarders nowadays.

kiteboarding is awesome and i personally found it easy enough to get the basics, done a fair bit of snow boarding and wake bording. Getting a lesson is definately the way to go, cuts out a lot of the frustration in the begining!

Lessons are must!!! Check out kitemare.com for some good info. It is one of the greatest rushes.
Especially during the past hurricane season!

Hey Lawsan, I see your from Treasure Island. I was down in St. Pete Beach a few weeks ago to visit my brother who goes to school at Eckerd, and we went to Fort something to watch the kite surfers. Is that a popular place to ride? My brothers thinking about trying it but doesn't want to go and interfere with other people while he's learning.

Taylor, That is Fort DeSoto state park. There is alot of kiteboarding going on there. Did you have a chance to check out Treasure Island? Alot of kite buggies here. They are the small three wheeled buggies you ride on the beach.

Again lessons are a must if you want to stay alive. This is a very dangerous sport.

Sweet, thanks for the site Lawsan. They've got lessons at South Padre, which was where I was looking to learn. May have 3 or 4 people going so nice to know about the group discount as well!
