Britons say 'I do' to adventure

EDWARD BLACK

INSTEAD of tying the knot in a traditional church setting at home, increasing numbers of British couples are opting for weddings abroad and seeking more exotic experiences, according to new research.

Couples are looking to emulate the increasing numbers of themed celebrity weddings, such as those seen in Las Vegas, in the hope of getting something special, according to American Express Travel.

Requests have included the presence of Buddhist monks, brightly-dressed elephants, native village choirs and traditional dancers and drummers.

Four new locations - Thailand, Dubai, Mexico and Australia - made it into the top ten overseas honeymoon locations, with Maldives the top spot.

Travel agents need to home in on this and offer all inclusive deals that include flights for relatives, friends and whoever else is attending the wedding. They'd make a mint.
