Not sure how many hits this post will get, but is there anyone else out there that arranges their long weekends around ultramarathons or adventure races? I did my first ultramarathon last July, The Jay Challenge and had a blast, and want to travel for other amazing adventure races. I have heard of the one in Antarctica (hate the cold) and the one across the Sahara, but if anyone know of any other fun races involving lots of running and obstacles and insanity, let me know!

Well I'm going to Phoenix to run a marathon in January but that hardly qualifies as an amazing adventure race. These are the ones I really want to do at some point in the future though. I actually just posted these in a different thread.

Oh I really want to do Comrades. I want to do it in a downhill year, though it kills your knees, but running uphill for the entire race sounds too hellish to me.

This thread is a little old, but my room-mate is going to Iceland to run Laugavegur in July. She's Icelandic but hasn't lived there since she was quite young.

Looks like a stunningly beautiful course.
