I'll be going from paris to amsterdam, then unsure.

I would like to buy a bike, but Amsterdam is said to be expensive (300 Euros for a new simple 1 speed bike)
Perhaps someone know a counrty/city/shop where bikes are cheap and come 2nd hand

Amsterdam has literally more bikes than people. You shouldn't have too hard of a time finding a decent bike at a decent price. I'd be surprised to hear otherwise. You might try Mike's Bike Tours and see if they can help you find a bike. The people who run it and work there are great people who like to help people out. You should be able to get a good secondhand bike for around 150-200 euro or for an even cheaper bike ask a junkie and he'll get you a bike for 50 euro. That's how quite a few people in Amsterdam do it as bikes often get stolen.
It's not unusual for people to have had their bikes stolen 3 times over a 6 month period. So even if it's a secondhand bike get a very good lock preferable even 2

in amsterdam keep your eyes out for guys just cycling aimlessly. call out "fietzer?" (not sure if thats how its spelt) and you may score yourself a cheap bike...just dont ask any questions... i paid 50guilders for one in 1999....
