- I've done three static jumps! Not like the kind you see in war movies when they jump from the plane and there rip cord is pulled, the ones I did I had to climb out of a small plane, and hang from the strutt of the wing flying like superman, before letting go then the instructor throws out the pilot chute - it was cool. It cost around $200 for the intial training, then $45 for the jumps after that. Its a fun ride, and well worth doing. The rush is similar to bungy jumping - you just have to take a leap of faith!

I havent jumped out of a perfectly good airplane...

But I did try out the verticle wind tunnel in Orlando Florida! That was a LOT of fun... You could fly around the room for minutes!

Those folks in formation are GOOD! Its hard as all get out to go where you want to go...

Hey Madhu, considering I thought about skydiving over a glacier...I'd say, it's not necessarily *only* a summer sport Razz

you should do it, and let us know how it goes! Smile

You can feel pretty safe if you look at the USPA website. I've posted the link to the page of dzs in your area. If you want a big dz experience (less personal), go to Perris Valley. They have some REALLY good people there. If you want a smaller dz, more personal experience, go during the week when they are less busy to one of the other dzs.

Have fun. Get the video.

So I was wondering if thats true and if not where could she go to jump. Willing to travel but not more than a weekend drive out of ct. Thanks guys.

Call the various dzs. Check out the United States Parachute Association (USPA) website and start calling. http://www.uspa.org/about/index.htm Depending on the instructors and gear, she should be able to find a place that will take her. Btw, I have a friend who is about that size and has over 1000 jumps so it can be done.

Skydiving isn't a 'summer' sport per se. It's just a lot warmer...
