Anybody ever seen Globe Trekker TV? I watched a great series last night on exploring Beijing. I really want to make it to the Olympics in 2008 now.

Any thoughts on these shows? They seem pretty down to earth and definitely catering to the independent traveler/backpacker.

Love the show but I can't seem to find it in my local listing.

Ian is such a clown sometimes.

It's on OPB in Portland Saturday nights at 8 pm and repeated Monday at midnight. It's the same show as the Lonely Planet series that used to be on the Travel Channel back when that channel didn't completely suck. They had a really good one on the Pacific NW a couple of weeks ago.

I love the show, and tape it every week. I didn't bother watching the Beijing episode this week though, as I'd watched it twice already. I've probably seen the New Zealand episode 4 times now.

I also really enjoyed the Pacific NW episode. Seeing places that you're familiar with on TV is a touch bizarre, but fun.

I got to watch the top 10 best beaches episode while flying back from The Netherlands. Such a treat. It featured all the hosts in different locations. I want that episode on dvd.

Globetrekker is an awesome show, what a job that would be to travel around to all those places while having fun and getting paid. It is hard to find them on TV but the library usually has DVD's or videos that you can check out. We even reserve copies online from other city libraries and they bring it to our local library for us to check out when its available. Some of the older shows are still listed as lonelyplanet from before they went solo under the Globetrekker name.

I get them from Netflix. Then I don't have to worry about finding them in the TV Guide.
