Thinking of doing a bit of travelling by bicycle. Not sure if pannier bags(on the side of the bike) or some sort of towing mechanism behind the bicycle. Which is better? I may have 30-40 pounds...

Thanks,

Front and rear paniers will carry a lot more than 40 lbs. I don't think I would ever want to tow a trailer

High and low rear panniers. Front panniers always get in my way.

i think panniers are excellent....some friends have told me that panniers up front help to steady the bike when coming downhill. weight in the rear can be difficult to manage...though a friend of mine just rode from montana to alaska, hauling a trailer, he loved it....take some short trips to find what you feel is best....drop out, from seventy miles an hour to seventy miles a day, there is no better way to step outside of modern daily life. amen.
