We're in India, heading north. Want to trek in Sikkim or Darjeeling or Ladakh or a couple of different places.
Any comments or suggestions on trekking companies, routes, the area not to miss? Seems like we can just organize once we get to the area. We should be in Sikkim area in May. Thanks in advance! |

Hi , the sandakhpu trail in darjeeling is quite well defined and you do not need a guide , there are trekking lodges and tea houses on the trail so food and accmodation is not a problem .If you want to trek in sikkim you go to trek thro a trekking agency , for more deatils you can write to MR Thupten Tsering ( he was my guide when I trekked in Sikkim , and he also oraginses treks around sikkim) his email is thuptentsering@yahoo.com . There are quite a few treks in Ladakh and Zanskar valley which are best done after the second fortnight of July when the high altitude passes open up. cheers and have fun.

September to mid october is a great time to trek in the himalayas .Trekking in sikkim that time should not be a problem. mid april to may is a good time around sikkim and darjeeling becos thats the time when the rhododendrons and magnolias are in bloom.
