Check this out! I would love to here your thoughts.

This non-profit is looking for people interested in being on first-ever global expedition from the South Pole to the North Pole through Africa and Europe. They are also looking for people to travel to Africa, climb Kilimanjaro and then work on 6-month long international humanitarian projects.

They are only taking applications for a limited amount of time. Thought this would be up somebodies alley. The website is: www.enrolltopole.com

hmmm.... they're still asking each "applicant" to recruit 10 people to pay $25 each.... of course, you can donate more...

does this sound like a pyramid scam to anyone else? anyone ever heard of this group?

ya think it would have CORPORATE SPONSORS like national geographic on their website, and companies donating gear and such. and you think if something this cool were going on, we would have heard about it!

they claim to have a documentary tv series about this, but don't have a title for the tv series or a STATION! and even the "participant bios" are about the shadiest thing i've seen. there are no details, such as which "university" the people went to.

i replied to this same post earlier in the vagabonding forum and pointed out the shadiness of this post and it mysteriously disappeared....moderators?

I saw a video clip advertisement for this at this years Vancouver International Mountain Film festival and it seems like a pretty legit endeavour.

In order to apply they ask you to recruit ten supporting members, not ten other applicants who then recruit ten other applicants, who then have to recruit ten other applicants... etc.

A lot of charity events use this format where they ask participants to get supporters to sponsor them per mile or per hour or something like that.

Thanks for your valid concerns Keppie. I see what you mean by it looking like a pyramid scam. The ask the applicants to find 10 supporting members which grow their membership base as a non-profit so they can make a larger impact on the world with more people involved. This also allows them to not be as dependent on corporate sponsorship. They will have some corporate funding as well but having a solid membership base allows them to be more "for the people, by the people". We have already successfully completed the first expedition from the North Pole to the South Pole through the America's, the first expedition to ever accomplish such an endeavor. This documentary has already been shown all over the world but became way more popular in the asian countries. This year they plan to do another documentary. As for the team members of the first expedition having very little detail on their bio's is to protect their privacy. You can look up several of the previous teams members individually and you will find that some of them have even published books about the journey and gone on to do some incrediable things. I encourage you to take a closer look at this non-profit. They are the real deal even though they sound like they are to good to be true. All the best!
