Hi All - It seems to me that everyone is jumping on the bandwagon and offering some type of new adventure tour. While I think this is GREAT, I am wondering if it's a passing fad or new industry, kind of like when eco-tours began 7 to 10 years ago.

Will adventure travel just fade away in a few years - and will a new type of travel emerge? Or will it grow?

I think the adventure travel sector will grow, then possibly retract to a stable amount of companies. Meaning, there are so many really cool sounding adventure tours out there...people will jump on the bandwagon, and offer new stuff, some fads will fade away or some tour companies will go out of business due to overcompetition, then the industry will retract to those companies who are able to endure the hard times. Make sense?

There will always be adventure freaks (me, included! Wink ) who are looking for something crazy and new.

I agree, Marisa. I think it might be a long term trend. It seems like everyone is getting into adventure travel.

Have any ideas on the next type of travel fad?

Going to inner space WIHOUT leaving your body behind.

People will get restless from just watching the great sceneries without participating - TV and movies are making us numb and used to magnificent views.

Going to retreats where you learn to reclaim your body in moving meditation. Learn to be authentic inside and out, not just in the mind.

Break away from the "vegetable" mentality where you have to be fed this vitamin and that to survive.
