I'm copying this off another Board because it's such a unique and cheapo deal for someone wanting to see the Best of BC.
Note that it's not me who's running this operation-I do know the area but not the operator.

BEARS, WHALES, CAMPING, BRITISH COLUMBIA-TRADE WORK FOR EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME

In April I will be starting to conduct Native Guardian duties on the coast of British Columbia, Canada. Situated 7 miles from Telegraph Cove, I am based in one of the best areas to camp, and see wildlife. I need people that are willing to help in my efforts to clear trails, campsites, and clean beaches. This is work that needs to be done for the summer tourist season.

I have a floathouse for accomodation as well as many campsites. You will accompany me on my 34 foot aluminum water taxi. Check out my web site to see boat and read about area and First Nations (Indians) cultural component. If you want to eat unlimited seafood and explore our area then please contact me. Daily I see black bears, grizzly bears, sea lions, otters, birdlife and of coarse whales. During the summer we are gifted to live in an area that has millions of salmon and this brings in the most Orca whales known to man at one given location.

My offer is open to all, but I do stress that you are in good physical shape. We will be walking on slippery beaches, caring things, and pulling fishing lines for hundred pound halibut that tend to be heavy! You need a sleeping bag, spare clothes, camera, and an explorers heart! I grub stake you - I feed you, transport you, give you a place to sleep, and you work a little. This is an age old principal on our coast that goes back to the goldrush days.

Phone (250) 282-3338 or access my e-mail through web site http://www.villageisland.com

SkyAnnie, screen name on BnA, grew up not too far from there, I think. It is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been in my life.

I grew up just a bit south of Sayward and Telegraph Cove. We could see Powell River out of the kitchen window. I tried to find a picture of the area, but could only find the odd thing about Cortez Island. NTFT is right, the area is gorgeous.

Sam Salmon, that program sounds like it would be a fantastic experience. Thanks for posting it.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for using our copyrighted picture! To see more of Nick West and Dupree Wood's pictures of the area visit Vancouver Island Yacht Charters. Here's where we take most of our picture from.
