I've seen this sledging thing on the boob toob alot lately. Anybody tried it? Its looks like a great deal of fun, but I'm curious to hear some first hand reports before I go and throw myself headfirst down a river.

What exactly are you talking about? It's in the water? Have you seen it on a TV? Where?

Its also known as riverboarding I think. I saw it on the last season of the Amazing Race, and Ian did it on Globe Trekker - Norway. Basically, you put on a helmet, knee pads, fins, and a life-vest and then hold onto an armored kick-board and toss yourself down rapids head first. Sounds like fun, right?

Sounds like another fantastic way to hurt yourself. Perfect for those adrenaline junkies heading down south to Queenstown.

If you want to talk about extreme than this is it. But I hate trying to talk it up so the best way to find out about this is to just do it. I am a guide for white water sledging in New Zealand. Check out the company I work for's website, www.sledge-it.com. It was us who did the amazing race. There is an operation in Queenstown but they close for the winter. We run all year around in sunnny Rotorua and we do grade 4 rapids. Any questions about it or NZ just fire away. Cher
