Between Costa Rica, New Zealand and Australia I've made 8 jumps. The first one was the scariest thing I've ever done in my life and I swore I would never do it again. After I did it again I loved it!!! The adrenaline rush is intense!! I highly recommend it. Keep in mind, the longer you stand at the top looking down....the more you'll try and talk yourself out of it....just jump!!!! Have fun!

Did it at the AJ Hacket original site in Australia, well worth it and you should look forward to it! Make sure you shoes are tied tight!

I'm afraid that if I bungee-jumped, I might crap in my pants.

it's amazing. i did the nevis jump in new zealand. i was so scared standing on that ledge but when i jumped it was the greatest feeling ever. . . something words will never do justice.

my advice would be take it all in. as you stand there be scared and let your self know that you are. just stand there and realize how sacred you are then jump (don't just fall off, jumping looks a whole lot cooler!).

you're gonna love it!!

i jumped twice in costa rica. it was one of the best things i have ever done. total blast. i want to make it to the big jumps in NZ and the Alps at some point.

Do it, and jump more than once, you'll love it.

like others have said, when you get up on that platform, just go. at that point you're going to go anyway, so no use stalling while you're strapped in.

I've done it three times. Two off of a crane over asphalt. (Okay. There was a kiddy pool down there. Looked about the size of a thimble.

And once on Vancouver Island.

Three times, I was only able to do it after resigning myself to being dead. There is video out there of me yelling all the way down on the second one.

Try it. You'll like it. (If you're not dead)

I have yet to try bungy jumping but have jumped out of a plane about 25 times. For you bungiers, I would highly recommend taking the next step - skydiving!
By the way, when you jump out of a plane the ground is way far away so I think it must be less scary than bungee jumping where you can actually see the rocks!

Been there, done that, 14 years ago in Queenstown, NZ. It's a memory I will never forget and enjoy talking about. It's an experience you can only have by jumping off a bridge, out of an airplane, or in orbit around planet earth. The FREEFALL is the most awesome rush I've ever had. Just weightless for a second again and again. You gotta do it.
It was terrifying to jump then the rush of free falling. Get the pictures for bragging rights back home!

You're right aopaq--I've bungied and skydived and the bungy is a lot scarier because you do actually see the spot where you would splatter!!!!!

You definitely need to take a huge leap when you go. That feeling, when your toes are still on the platform but the rest of your body has already committed, is a serious rush!! 2 times in NZ, once each in South Africa and Victoria Falls... Try going off backwards too... It's a trip!

to echo Lady Moch's comment...definitely jump out as far as you can. It will make you swing around a lot more. Granted, i was getting thrown around like a rag doll, but it was fun as hell. I can also second the jumping backwards. It is an eerie feeling, jumping and seeing your friends and the bridge getting smaller in front of you and hearing the wind whipping past your ears. Just talking about it makes me want to do it again. Anyone know the closest bungy to New York City? They got rid of the one in New Jersey a few years ago (damn it!).

However, if you have a malfunction while sydiving, it definitely is a little freaky once you cut away your main chute and then look to pull your reserve cord. It also helps to look for that reserve cord (as I was taught) rather than just pulling on any old flap (as I did).

Okay, with all the talk about seeing the place you'd splatter when you hit, I have to wonder - is it about the free fall feeling or standing up to your body's imminent doom fleeing mechanisms? That is, would it be the same if you closed your eyes or would that be cheating?

Both-----and once you manage to do it, try doing a jump where you're gonna hit the water.......not only the rush of jumping and free-falling, but also the rush from knowing that you will hit......whooooooooooaaaaaaaa!!

Personally I wanted to just get really close to the water, not hit it... Just personal preference :P
