Before our departure we were told by the veterans: 1) independent travel in India - only by motorcycle 2)nobody camps in India. ALL WRONG. It's possible! We bought an open Mahindra Jeep and travelled with it through India and Nepal for one amazing year. No more excuses to stay on the beaten track - it's a different India out there...
Allright, you'll be a trailblazer and you need strong nerves to weather the road conditions, but there's nothing like it.. So what's better, a motorcycle or a jeep? Do you like to camp out in the open with all the equipment you need for comfort, be dry when it rains, be more than a fly on the road. What do you think? |

I think there are pros and cons each way. A motorcycle would save gas, allow you to go more off the beaten path, but it wouldn't shield you from the rain, and would be a bit more comfortable.
My friend and I are thinking about riding a motorcycle across Central Africa, but are considering a vehicle too. Donovan |

Going moto, to me, gives a more fundamental feel to the experience. But the car gives more security and comfort. I'd rather risk my life than be more insulated, the worlds getting smaller I need to reach further for the same hardcore experience.
India and Nepal? I'm using the motorbike in India then using the good old deadly treadly (push bike) in Nepal. |
