hi all

I know im getting in early here, but;

Im looking for other people who are interested in joining me for a 5 - 6 week trip paddling the mackenzie river in northern canada in June - July 2007.

The trip will be non-guided, non supported, you can come along for the whole trip (hay river - inuvik) or parts thereof, your choice.

Kayak's / canoes can be hired in hay river or you can bring your own, If you're up for it, get in touch with me
mackenzie expedition

Cheers

That sounds cool. I'd be interested, although that is pretty far in the future.

I would be interested, but I am rafter, not a kayaker. I could do the gear boat. It's still a long way away, but I would be interested in hearing more.

I have a permit for the Grand Canyon in about 4 years from now! I have been waiting for about 7 years for a private trip.

I guess I'm in the same boat with Donovan. Oh, that was bad, bad, bad pun....moving on:I'm more of a rafter or canoe-er than a kayaker, only because at 6"6", I've learned the hard way that there's not a whole lotta' kayaks built for tall people.
Still a ways away, so would be up for hearing more...

I'm going to paddle the Upper Missouri through Montana this late spring/early summer. I'll take the 10 day 149 mile trip.

5-6 weeks? Wow thats a long trip. Let me see how this summers trip goes 1st. But yeah I'm kinda interested. I'll do some reading on the river.

Oh I paddle a canoe, with lots of whitewater experience.

Peace

Been there, done that, be back, do it again....

That sounds cool. I might be interested. The longest I've ever done is 2-3 days. Of course it was solid white water. I have to figure out the "job" (If I still have one) situation though.

I have done this trip (3 weeks). It is very isolated, and there are LOTS of bears (twice, I would have climbed a tree if I could have). I am presuming you know the ins and outs of wilderness travel in bear country, but there are a number of absolutes.
* You MUST keep a clean camp.
* Cook away from the camp.
* No food in tents.
* Sex attracts bears-this I know from personal experience.
* But not like a woman on her period. I do NOT suggest this trip for a woman who will face that-for her OR her companions.
* No freaking perfume or any of that shit.
* Make certain you have a serious medical kit, with everything from antibiotics to suture material.
