Hello all!
I'm trying to figure out how to get from Cairo to Eilat. I've heard there's a bus to Taba and that it's then possible to walk across the border. Where can I find bus schedules? Is this bus generally considered safe (given the massive road accidents in Egypt/recent terrorism in the Sinai)? Do many Westerners use it? And finally, what about women travelling alone? Thanks for the help. |

Hello,
There are bus schedules here but I have no idea how reliable they are: http://www.ask-aladdin.com/bus_schedules.htm You can walk over the border. Taba, Egypt; Eilat, Israel; and Aqaba, Jordan are all superclose. There are flights from Cairo to Sharm el-Sheikh on certain days of the week for about $100 one way. You could do that and then take a bus to the border. It would save time and be more comfortable. I only rode the bus once and it was passable, but I don't know about safety, etc. |

I'm in a similar boat. Visiting Wadi Rum & Petra, then catching a flight out of Cairo.
Does that work in reverse? Aqaba/Eliat--Cairo? Aqaba/Eliat---SharmES-Cairo? The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page. ---St. Augustine |

I'm not sure what it's like walking over the border the other direction. I think it's pretty easy too, but can't say for sure since I didn't do it.
