While I was scanning this forum I realized that Qatar has not been mentioned once, so I feel the need to make a plug for Saudi Arabia's little appendage neighbor. Doha is an oasis of the first order, with posh hotels and shopping malls, familiar amenities but with a style that never lets you forget what part of the world you're in. If you dare to brave some of the most dangerous roads in the world, there's much to do outside the city, too, from off-roading in the dunes to horseback riding, and some of the calmest beaches to be found anywhere.

Has anyone else been who can agree/disagree?

I have to agree! Well especially since I have been living here for over 4 years, I must like it. There has been lots of changes to this once quiet town, in the short time I have been here. Qatar will soon be the place to come for sporting events, who knows they may even host the Olympics! I will miss the people here when I leave to go on my RTW trip, hopefully I can come back here and raise some kids!

June 1, 2008 my sweetheart and I start our trip!
