Has anyone done a organised tour of Gallipoli during ANZAC Day? I'm looking at a few tour companies and would just like to know if anyone has any recommendations?

Also, what does everyone think would be the best (cheapest, fastest, most comfortable etc.) mode of transport for getting from Istanbul to Bucharest in Romania? I would assume it would be flying but I've been told that there is a train somehow too.

Cheers.

Fastest would certainly be flying. However, train or bus would probably be significantly cheaper, not sure which of the two would be cheapest. Usually the train is the slowest option in that corner of the continent, with buses being slower than flying, but faster than trains.

If you book the trip with a Turkish bus company, that's probably the best trade-off between comfort, speed, and price. Make sure you're not booking with a foreign company though, as the quality and comfort difference between the two are huge.

Its hard to say, since the commercial bookers you take from outside the country CONTRACT the tours to Turkish companies. Top Choice or Top Rank hired the company of my hostel, once. They never did it again. It was a disaster, logistics wise.
The point was, they hired them without checking on their rep very much.

So when you get to Istanbul, investigate there if you can.

Even a lousy tour to Anzac day is made great by Anzac day itself.

Emgeegoku, any ideas???

You might also check out Fez Travel. I used to use their buses concurrently with the ANZAC tours and crossed paths with the Diggerati doing the other tours. Turkish based, Turkish owned, usually (but not always) Ozzies and Kiwis doing the tours.
