Anyone planning on being there this Sept.?

Anyone try the Fez bus and how was that?

Also, I'm a single blonde female and have heard horror stories. Should I ignore?

There will be plenty of other blond, single females on the Fez Bus.

There are two ways to use the Fez Bus.

  • You can simply get on it and get of at the end. Along the way, you will have a good time, but it will seem rushed.

  • You can use it the way it was intended: Hop on, hop off.
I would suggest hopping off for a day in Koycegiz so that you can take advantage of the mud bath and night boat ride. I would suggest that you hop of for a day or two in Olympos. I would suggest that you hop off for FOUR days in Goreme.

Want to get away from the crowd? Just grab your pack and walk to a different guesthouse. In most cases, thier "selection" is fine (after all, they have to stop somewhere). In a couple of situations, particularly in Olympos, their choices suck badly. (Kadir is part owner of Fez). In Goreme there are 90 guesthouses to choose from.

Something else that you should know: the "Offsiders" receive only walk-around money as wages. Any time you buy a carpet, go to a Folklore show, buy a souvenir, piece of pottery, etc., THEY get a commission. Their hard-sell of the folklore show in Goreme a byproduct of this. Any time your hotel or guesthouse directs you to a carpet shop or anywhere, they get a commission. That is how the world works.

Well, I sort of answered this on the other thread, but unless you're really nervous, I would recommend bypassing the Fez bus and just traveling around on your own. It's extremely easy to get around in Turkey - the bus system is awesome - and MUCH more convenient than Fez. You can travel on your own schedule and it will be much cheaper. You will meet plenty of people in Turkey, too - I met tons of other travelers and locals and had an incredible time!
