I am participating in a Birthrite tour for 10 days in Israel during early July...I will have about a week after the tour to travel around the area. My hope was to travel to Jordan and Egypt, time permitting. I am wondering if anyone has flown from Israel to Egypt, and if so, how did they plan this? Were tickets purchased ahead of time? What was the cost involved, etc.? If you did not fly, what land route did you take and how time consuming was this? Thanks for the help!

Your organizing trip should be able to help you out with this...I know birthright offers extensions through the program for trips to egypt and to the south of israel...I would start there...
I did birthright last january excellent time...very jealous... Josh is off to Europe soon, but in the meantime read about his past trips around the world I'm 24, why isn't 100 countries and 7 continents realistic in a lifetime...40 and 5 down... |

Hey
I actually went from Egypt to Israel (and back) via the Taba crossing a few times. It's easy to do but I always get stuck on the border getting into Israel for several hours. I reckon it's cos I have Syrian stamps/visas in my passport, which makes the Israeli border people unhappy. I always breeze through on my way out though. And since you're on a birthrite tour you should be fine. an alternative though is to go to Jordan through the King's Crossing and taking the boat from Aqaba to Egypt (nuweiba). You end up in the Sinai and you'll have to take an 8 hour (ish) bus trip if you want to get into Cairo, so if you're pressed for time I guess you should fly. hope that helps |
