has anyone stayed at the youth hostel in dubai?? it seems to be the cheapest option, but kind of away from the main sights.. also what's the best way to get to and from sharjah from dubai?

No such thing. There's a hostel on the outskirts of town, cheapest accomadations. It's a HI retreat, but the taxi ride out there will kill your budget so hopefully you arrive in the daytime and can get the bus in to the city and change to the hostel.
