Well the bonus of going to the Lucky Lab is that it's only 4 blocks from my house!

And NTFT, work is lame. Ditch it like you did that perm in 1988. You'll be just as greatful in the future.

Also it's got tasty beer and bento. Is this definately the place then?

OK everybody! The time is drawing near.... So we will be meeting Friday, June 10th, 7pm at the Lucky Lab 915 SE Hawthorn. I believe the Boots Boys will be ushering people from the BNA Hostel to the event. I will also be available to assist in transport if needed. If you need anything or have any questions please PM me. Don't worry about arriving late we'll all be there drinking, talking and having loads of fun awaiting your arrival! Can't wait to see you there!

Check your PM's people. If any of you Seattle people (you're still coming aren't you!!??) are coming in on the 5.15 train I can come and meet you.

I should be up there a little after 7:00, as I have an errand in Portland to take care of first.

I'll be the bald guy who comes in, orders up some beer and bento, then looks around with a clueless expression on his face as I try to find the group.

YAY! Just a few more hours....why do people have to work anyway? we shoulda just partied all day today. After I get off work I will be scrambling to assemble some sort of sign so that people know i'm not some lost little waif. Hopefully I will beat you all there so I can try to grab a large table and set up camp. See you soon! (a fitting smiley don't you think?)

I hope you guys plan on posting some pics after tonight's gathering, so all of us can see the fun we missed...

I plan on taking my camera and we'll see if I actually remember to take pics. I'm sure others in attendance will be better photographers than I am.

I will be taking photos for sure - watch out, i can be sneaky - i know we're less than an hour away, so few will catch this warning in time...

geez, i was just going to put up a few of the more mild photos - standby now for a link to the full-length karaoke video(s) -- I was going to let that one go...

So the run down:

We spend a solid 5 hours at the Lucky Lab drinking, eating and chatting. There were probably 20 people who showed up at some point, all of whom are as adorable in person as they are in the photos. We talk travel, movies, life, love and crop whips. We also get good and tipsy.

The pub closes at midnight so we take it to the Grand Cafe. I admit I suggested this place which is one of the most bizarre clubby sort of places in Portland...upstairs some of the worst karaoke (especially bad last night) and downstairs a packed salsa club. We are evidently a group of alcohol induced dancers. Our master plan of doing a group Tom Jones karaoke performance are thwarted by the 2.30 bar time. It's for the best.

Notes:

*Court is the BIGGEST BAD ASS ever. Not only did she spend the day riding her bike all the way to Multnomah Falls (like 30 miles outside of town) yesterday, but on her way home she gets HIT BY A CAR (who fled the scene!!! ooh bad karma...) and shows up to the festivities STILL BLEEDING!!!!

*Prisa is a fabulous slow dancer.

*NTFT slips me a twenty at the karaoke/salsa bar and tells me I don't have to tell anybody. He came home with me.

*Evidently BnAers are all quite happy dancing to cumbia and sentimental fools who love the movie Garden State.

*I never realized who Tickles was!!! Argh. There were quite a few of us and it was a bit difficult to chat with everybody. And in my defense, I was wasted.

Conclusion:

Really people, I had a great time. Not only did you not knock me for having to dance to a lip sync version of Usher immediate upon arrival at the Grand, but you joined me! The BootsCrew was, as always, fabulously accomodating and charming (I swear I'll drop by one of these days soon and bring you goodies).

This is the only "internetty" sort of thing I do and I'm greatful that in real life you are all as interesting and fun as you seem to be in this bizarre virtual world.

Oh yeah, and send me pics!!!
