Final prep Viet/SE Asia-Leave 29th anyone else going?

Figure out the best place to stay on Khao San Road in Bangkok and where to escape when you've had enough of the mayhem. From Singapore Slings to the changes in Bejing after the 2008 Olympics, gab about it all here.

Final prep Viet/SE Asia-Leave 29th anyone else going?

Postby NormM » December 17th, 2008

Im in my final prep for Vietnam/Cam/Laos and Thailand- 2-months. Hoping to maybe hook up with other adventerous travelers to compare notes, places, places to stay,a beer, or anything else along the way.

I hope to do a bunch of kayaking there as well as off the beaten path treks. Anyone interested in hooking up with a non-psycho middleaged solo male etc.

Not sure some of you know too, that Air Asia is giving away 100,000 free tickets to and from Bangkok for anyone in SE Asia. I got my freebe today from Hanoi to Bkk round trip.

Anyway...any LAST comments on things i may have forgotten...please let me know.

How did you get free Air Asia tickets??? That is awesome. My family is going to be there in January and would love a free flight from BKK to the southern beach area....are you serious they are free?

Thanks for any info....

I've seen promo's like that over there before but you still had to pay taxes and fees.

Is this the same deal?

Even with the taxes and fees the tickets were still cheap enough to make it a good deal.

Yeah since the political uprising in Thailand a few weeks ago the tourist have left and its bad for the econmy of thialand. I saw an article on NBC news how the beaches and resorts of thailand which are usually at 85% are around 3%. Hotels and places have been laying people off work due to lack of tourist. The NBC news story mentioned how Asia Air was trying to get people there and started the promotion of "Get your Bhat to Thailand". Yesterday they started to give away 100,000 free airline tickets from SE Asia to BBK.
You only have till saturday to get them . I got mine no problem from Hanoi to BBK and return.
Yes i paid some airtax but it was nothing.
