From Chile to South Africa (then back home)
At the end of my college years I will be flying into southern Chile with the mind set to travel by foot, bike, kayak, any other man powered means to south africa. Once I hit South Africa I will fly into new york or Florida and then travel back home (Michigan). I plan on doing a lot of odd shots, such as instead of going straight through Russia go south to India, just an example I'm not sure if that's an actual plan. I have run across my first "issue" not even half way through South America. I would like to travel through the Amazon, I know the only way is via water, is there a place I can buy a worthy kayak in the southern amazon region? If not how would you guys, and gals, go about this? I DON'T want to avoid the forest I want to delve into the vast differences in the world not avoid them. Also has anyone done this previously? If so anything you can tell me? Any hints?
