Hello all,
I am in the process of packing for a move to saudi arabia - I have taken a teaching post and will spend a year there. This packing adventure has proven a bit different from packing for past trips considering saudi's "dress code" and the business casual attire required for teaching there.
I have decided that a garment bag/porter/some bag that i can carry suits and dress shirts in is going to be necessary, but I have yet to find a bag that screams to me that it's the one.
Does anyone have any experience with a garment bag they love, or have any suggestions to go with or brands to stay away from?
Any input is much appreciated...
Happy Travels!

Nobody uses garment bags anymore?
Maybe it was my foolish wording that has led so many away from this exciting topic...you would think in this day and age one wouldn't have to make such difficult decisions. I'm giving everyone one more chance to chime in, no responses will leave me to make my decision alone, recommendationless - don't let it be your fault if I choose the wrong one.....

I think these days with the restrictions on how much luggage you can bring, or want to bring, it's just not really something people like dragging around with them. Due to how infrequently you'll be using the garment bag (presumably just on the plane over and on the plane back, right?) it wouldn't seem to matter which particular one you chose, kind of like getting caught up in the details of what taxi you'll be taking to the airport. Any carry-on garment bag should work, or any hanging garment bag (presuming the plane has an area to hang them, in first-class or elsewhere for business travelers. Which should be pretty easy to find out, I'm sure business travelers sometimes like to bring extra clothing, so it won't sound like a weird question to ask.) Otherwise, the "bundle wrapping" method of packing should work with just normal luggage.

It also seems like any wrinkles or creases that your suit will acquire while packed could easily be taken care of by having it dry or steam cleaned in Saudi Arabia (I don't know for sure if those places are common, but if everyone wears suits I would assume they have such facilities.)
Otherwise, why not just buy a suit there? Then you'll even fit right in with any local styles, if they differ from the classic business suit in any way.
This is just how I'd approach the issue, and considering I've never been to Saudi Arabia and don't own a suit, perhaps I might have overlooked some detail.
