Hey,
I am out in Panjim, Goa and I would like to rent a motorcycle for a week. I am understanding that I will need to show an IDL and give a deposit to take the bike, which is not something I planned for.
I have a full drivers license but no UK bike license. Is there any way to get an IDL issued over here?
ps (any other advice on bikes in GOA would be appreciated)
Many Thanks,
Tom

getting an IDL (international driving license) issued in GOA

There shouldn't be but you never can be sure. The document is an International Drivers Permit and it allows you to drive on your UK Licence in foreign countries that are signatoris to the applicable treaty (for instance China is not). You usually get one before you leave your home country. If you do not have a motorcycle licence in the UK then I doubt they would accept the permit to allow you to ride a bike in India but stranger things have happened.

If you go to the local police station and show a few rupees, gently, or hint about it, it may be possible.
Something like..
Is it at all possible for me to get an IDL Here? What would be required?
This way they can't arrest you for attempted bribery, since you asked a hypothetical.
