Within November 2011 we have been to Ghana, travelling independently and getting around by public transport. Our route included Aburi, Kumasi, Bolgatanga, Mole NP, Techiman, Kakum NP, Ankasa NP, Busua, and Accra. We have found travelling in Ghana somewhat difficult but of course interesting and rewarding.
When preparing the trip I also used information gathered at this site and all around the internet - to repay this help, and also considering that information given in the only available Bradt guidebook is rather incomplete, I have put a very detailed report on our experience for others to use on the internet - if interested check it out at my site:

Happy travels to everyone.

Ghana trip report - independently using public transport

Thank you for taking the time to put such a detailed report together.
If a place isn't covered by Lonely Planet, it can be incredibly hard to research the sorts of things independant travellers need to know in advance of travelling, which I think, sadly, puts a lot people off going to these places.
This blog has huge amounts of useful info - and covers exactly the sort of things backpackers need to know.
I'm certain anyone travelling to Ghana will find this a very useful resource.
