Global Bank Accounts - Perfect for a world traveler?
fishfool
does anyone know of any global bank accounts online? I live in Israel, bank fees here suck, and what I want to do is find a global internet bank where my employer (for whom I work online and I can do it from anywhere) can deposit my earnings in shekel, the bank won't take an insane exchange rate (or none at all preferably but I'm sure such a thing doesn't exist), I have a credit card/ATM card I can use globally without fees, and whatever - the perfect bank account for the traveler. thanks for any advice. -Fishfool @ The Reef Tank

I just checked it out and HSBC has locations in Israel.
I got my HSBC free checking and online savings account before I left for a long trip through South America.
It was perfect because I was never charged an ATM fee at other banks, there were no international transaction fees when using it as a credit card, and there are branch/atm locations in just about every major city.
It's also nice because you can link up your other domestic bank accounts and move money around.

look at an investor checking account with charles schwab...not sure if they have a branch in israel, assuming they do...in america they have free world wide atm fees...basically you get charged initially for the bank fee from the atm and then it gets reimbursed at the end of every month...great account and the debit card comes with a VISA logo which hey is accepted everywhere
Josh and Nicole aren't going anywhere for a while, but you can still read about their past trips herehttp://blogs.bootsnall.com/eppyboy
