Wow, very cool you two! Congratulations on the well-deserved nominations and mentions. I'm off to explore both your blogs. Smile

I know at least some of you read and enjoy Conor Grennan's BootsnAll blog (which was once called How Conor is Spending All His Money and is now called Conor's Mildly Thrilling Tales - personally, I think the title needs some work) - so I thought you might be interested in this article about him in his alma mater's newsletter. There are even videos of the kids at the orphanage in Kathmandu.

Thanks Jessie for noting the article about Conor Grennan. I just spotted Travis's first mention of Conor's blog. It's so moving - really the right choice for 'great moments in blogging'.

What has happened to all the good blogs out there? I used to read Conor's, but his words have dried up now that he's engaged and living back in the States. I used to read Surfing Dan's, but he's gone the same way as Conor - back in New York.

I'm finding the sheer volume of new blogs here somewhat overwhelming, and don't have the time to sift through them all, not to mention the quality being diluted - random ones I've checked out seem to generally be a paragraph here or there that are of no interest to anyone except close friends and family, as opposed to many of the earlier ones (particularly rtw blogs), which, like Conor's and Dan's, focussed a little more on story telling.

Someone inspire me with a new blog. Please.....

My own travels are over and I need to return to vicarious living.
Don't look at these....

It's blatant self-promotion, so apologies in advance, but for anyone who followed my Year in the Life blog, you may be interested to know that I am travelling and writing again - overland through Europe, Russia, China and other places I haven't quite worked out yet. I've only been on the road for two weeks and have only written, er, 3 days' worth, but hope you enjoy it: Overland Tales

Even though their trip is over, I've been having fun with the Tuxedo Travels. Watch the videos -- they are pretty lo-fi but funny.

I agree! I need some fresh meat now that Conor has pretty much retired from it. I´ve been trying to write a blog but have found it really hard on the road. I don´t know how some people seem to have 6/7 posts a week!

Yes! I'm desperate for some good travel blogs. Right now the only active blog I follow is everything-everywhere.com. I feel like last year there were 5+ blogs I could read at any one time (Sean and Shannon on travelblog, km and conor on bootsnall, www.hedgehogswithoutborders.com, and www.me-go.net/rtw/blog.) I'm leaving on my own trip in a few months (and hopefully my blog will be able to entertain some trip planners!) but I'd like some distractions in the meantime Smile

Well, since my trip is now done I can't self-promote me 8-) even if I did get a lot of cool comments from strangers who stumbled across it.

I can recommend www.steveislost.com. Steve and I met up when we crossed paths in Luxor and his blog is really worth reading. Especially given the number of near-death experiences he has had...

I will self promote mine then. I have been traveling for 1 year and will continue until April 30. I am currently in Laos.

Learning English with blocks.

I would like to order the 'Destroy the Evidence' block -- when can't that come in handy?

So does anyone actually read a blog written by other people?? Only seems to be self promotion here, which is fine, but it's sad there's none to recommend at the moment.
