Green Hotels

Postby TrvlBuddy » April 9th, 2009

I travel a lot and am always concerned about my environmental foot print, especially when it comes to staying hotel. Any tips about how to remain 'green' while staying at hotels. Besides, hanging towels to dry.

Thanks!

It seems that people are shy. I am sure someone can come up with some tips!
Oh well, I found this entry on the CheapOair - Travel Blog. They have some useful green travel tips such as when using a rental car to use a hybrid. Though I think that this should be the case for even when we're at home!

Keep an eye out for hotels with a green globe award. There are tons of green accreditation out there but green globe is one of the few that is actually global. There are a few websites and a couple of guidebooks now dedicated to eco-friendly hotels, and most focus on hotels with features like solar powered pools rather than those who change a few lightbulbs and claim to be green.

Staying in a hostel is usually going to be greener than staying in a hotel too - as less resources are used. You share a room, cook your own food etc
