| Sierra la Vigilancia is a place located somewhere between Mar del Plata and Balcarce, at km 45.5 off of the main ruta. It is a pretty remote place -- a rock formation rising high above the pampas near a eucalyptus tree farm with sheep, horses, and goats. I stayed at the refugio there and went climbing and hiking around the area, as well as took a daytrip to Balcarce to break the trip up (and to buy food supplies).
