Has travel caused a significant change in your life direction?

Ginger I hae been on the road for almost two thirds of my life. It is my life and I love it. Every place I go I get changed. Sometimes it is people and sometimes it is the place and sometimes it is the situation. My moist recent change came this past January. We were iced in at St. Paul Island on the Bearing Sea and we weren't making any money. So most people on the boat were complaining. I went on dect in below zero weather to get away from the negativity and looked out over the forzen landscape and saw the type of inspiration that exits only in nature. I realized how truly insignificant I was at the time and how truly great I am at the same time. I could never come up with such a beautiful surrealistic landscape in my imagination yet can visit it whenever I want by closing my eyes.

I wanted to take time off school and bum around for a bit... but after my exchange a month of backpacking in China I learned that the long term thing just isn't for me. I'm not really a fan of the lack of stability. I also get grossed out easily by disgusting bathrooms and nasty beds.
So... I came home, took an accounting degree (switching from international business) and started work at a Big 4 firm as an articling student on my way to earn my accounting designation. I still have a travel bug, I just want to have the money to travel more comfortably - boutique hotels, B&Bs, etc as opposed to run down, local hostels. I also like having a certainty to come back to. Plus - with the firm I can do international exchanges and go work in countries... expenses paid!
It's funny - if you search my posts from like, five years ago you'll see a huge difference in my tone/plans/ambitions over the years. I've really grown up on here.
