Hello - I posted this in the Asia travel forum as well, but need to know ASAP so please forgive the double post.
I am in Cambodia and applied for a 30 day visa through a travel agent in Siem Reap (World Express Tours & Travel - DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE) - they charged me about $40 and told me to pick it up in Phnom Penh in 4 days. So I picked it up today and they DID NOT give me a 30 day visa - instead I was shocked to find a Category D Visa valid for ONLY 15 days!!
They swore up and down that I would get 14 days from ARRIVAL in Vietnam and could leave AFTER the visa expired. Does anyone know if this is true?
They also claimed this Category D visa could be extended for $5 in Vietnam - any truth to this?
Any help is GREATLY appreciated! If I get 14 days from arrival in Vietnam I am probably OK, but if not I will not have enough time on this visa.
Again the name of the travel agent in Siem Reap was World Express Tours & Travel Co. - beware of this travel agent.

Re: Help! Vietnam Visa Questions
I have not heard of this and it sounds very suspicious. You can do a lot with bribery, etc. but I certaintly wouldn't rely upon being able to easily extend the visa. Maybe you could consult with another travel agency in Phom Phen. We went to one recommended in the Lonely Planet guide book for our Vietnam visa. Sorry I don't remember the name off the top of my head but Lonely Planets are everywhere so it wouldn't be too difficult to find one and look it up.
Good Luck.
Good Luck.

Re: Help! Vietnam Visa Questions
I had a 30 day visa and ended up having to get another one because I couldn't get out of Vietnam in time for various reasons. But it wasn't a problem once I was in the country. Not sure if you can get the extension on arrival at the border but I don't think you'll have a hard time either extending it or buying another one once you are there.
