Budget for 2 people (my wife and I) after pre travel expenses $33,000 USD. This includes RTW tickets, Rail passes for W. Europe and other miscellaneous stuff. Total budget before travel expenses $40,000.
We want to be gone for about a year.
Itinerary (rough)
Western Europe (about 6 weeks) - UK, France, Italy, Germany, Holland, Greece, Spain.
Eastern Europe ( 6 - 8 weeks) - Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Turkey (Istanbul)
North Africa -- Morocco (2 - 3 weeks) Egypt (about 6 weeks) tour of the country Cairo, Alexandria, Siwa Oasis, Luxor, Aswan, Nile Valley.
Kenya/Tanzania (2 -3 weeks) Safari of Serengeti the budget kind - camping and cooking food with the guides. Rolling in Range Rovers with other backpackers. Then on to the beach for a couple of days for some kick back time.
India (6 weeks at least) Start in Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Goa, Mumbai. Basically head down the west coast to the Southern tip then back North to Chennai/Madras. I want to see some of the interior as well.
Thailand about a month -- Bangkok, Chang Mai, Phuket for sure. But we want to see as much of the country as we can.
**** We plan to leave in March/April of 2010. The itinerary is in the order we are going to travel. We want to see Western Europe during the low/shoulder season to avoid the crowds and higher prices!!*****
I am open to criticism, suggestions, your comments, your clarifications, your what have you.
Help with my budget!!!!

While Istanbul is interesting and there is a lot to see and do there, don't neglect the rest of the country -- there's so much there.

You have choosen right locations.
(But I Have NOT visited Kenya and Tansania)
40,000 is very normal number for those locations for a year. It makes 100$ a day. But in some of these Countries (Especially European) you will not be able to have luxury vacation (I mean luxury hotels). For example, In Czech Republic, there are places (in mountains) that your daily travel expense can be 300-400$ or more.
The same in Turkey (Bodrum for example) and Britain.
And you really made intelligent choices. I mean, you will not need to pay a lot of air charges. Those countries are neighbours and there is no charge for going from one to another. For couples who want to have world vacation
(at least part of this), it seems to be good travel destinations.
