I moved to DC last month, and am looking for some good day hikes in the area. I lived here before in 2009 but didn't really take advantage of everything around here, so I'd really like to get outside this summer. Please give specific hikes, not just "Shendandoah." I would prefer day hikes, maybe within 2 hours drive. Thanks!
PS: I also cross-posted in US/Canada.

What pray tell is adventure hiking in DC? Adventure hiking would be a hike in some remote area in my definition, but the way words are changing maybe i just don't get it anymore.
