Hi All
I'm headed to LA in April and want to stay somewhere in Hollywood for 3 nights. I want a room with 2 beds (2 double or a pullout bed, not bothered) for around $150 or less.
I'm finding it hard to get information on a good area and to source hotels....
I've been told to stay around the Hollywood area by a friend, as I'm Australian and don't think I feel confident enough to rent a car and to drive on "the wrong side of the road"
Any suggestions welcome
Thanks!

its a motel, what can i say? motels are often better deals for a private room if you have company on your bed. if not, hostels are available for 20 dollars a night.

Hey. Hollywood eh? Very exciting
I popped Hollywood into the search for a travel site i have used in australia and there are some options so might help u to search from here. Go to this link for cheap hotels at wego.com.au Gives u a gd overall look of whats available. Or holiday rentals instead of hotels but I didn't check what the rates of accommodation options are there. You can filter by budget with hotels so u can keep it below $150. I've not tried holiday rentals one. Just be sure to read cos i think there's minimum stay n stuff.Good luck.

I love the feeling of being anonymous in a city I've never been before.

I stayed a few nights in hollywood a couple of years back at a hostel that was very centrally located... glancing at a map, I think it was the USA Hostels Hollywood. I'm not sure if they do private rooms but the place was clean and secure and just off the strip.
However, even without a car, I'm not sure I'd recommend staying in Hollywood; it's interesting enough to wander round for a few hours but other than sex shops, hookers and fast food outlets, there really isn't a huge amount there.
I don't claim to know LA at all well but I think if I went back I'd aim to stay in Venice Beach or Malibu, they struck me as much more interesting areas.

Hollywood is a pretty seedy part of town.
