Honestly, how big is your pack???

Honestly, how big is your pack???

Postby Johann » October 12th, 2004

We travel via planes, trains, buses and those trusty feet... sleep in hostels, motels and parks, etc.

-So what SIZE pack do you entrust your few possessions to while on the road?

-Do you camp alot and need the extra space?

while at that if someone could explain what the conversion between liters and cubic inches, that woudl be great.

I think it's 3000 c.i. = 60 liters or so?

That's 49.16 liters. You can always go to google.com and type in '3000 cubic inches to liters' and it will work as a calculator. It can do just about any units, too.

wow, on the header in the BootsnaALL Members Forum all this thread read was "Honestly, how big is your..."

It must be late for me because my mind was entirely in the wrong place.

I thought the double entendres would start up quickly enough on this thread. So, if you can't beat them, join them.

I've never had any complaints about the size of mine on public transport !!

But anyway, back in the real world, I use a 70+10 litre. I know alot of you may think this is a bit on the big side but then again I'm quite a big bloke. I'd say go for whatever is a comfortable size for you to carry for long periods of time.

Uh... Its not the size of the pack that matters, its what you put in it.

Yeah yeah, motion of the lotion.

i havent used it yet, but I have a GoLite Gust pack, with 4950 cubic inches(81 liters). I think it's too big, since my other equipment will probably weigh in at 25 pounds or so, I cant it using so much space.

50l + 10. If I did not have to take my bulky sleeping bag, this would be too big. But even if you don't go camping, a sleeping bag is very useful if you can crash out at friend's places in countries where accommodation is expensive. So far, I have used mine on nearly every trip.

The main thing is to keep it light. Size is less important.

I went into MEC today and i was just floored! SOO many choices. Some of the packs are HUGE! the sales girls helped me a lot. but i don't know what would be beter. some of the bags look too flashy and easy targets, others just look too flimsy. so should i go for flashy or simplicity. i think too many pockets would be a pain
