Hi, I will be in Hong Kong next January and will hopefully be in possession of an X Visa by then. I will be there for half the year.
My question is, since I will probabaly be making frequent trips into China (shenzhen, shanghai, beijing, hainan are among the places I wish to go) will I be able to get a China multi-entry visa in Hong Kong? I heard that the very tight restrictions are now slowly being lifted, so come January do you think things will be back to normal for the visa situation?
A double-entry visa would not be that much use to me as I will only realistically be able to make short, but frequent weekend trips into the mainland and wont be able to do the whole country in the one go!
Do u think that if I applied in my own country (EU), I would have a better chance of getting the multi-entry visa??
I appreiate your help!
Thanks.

Hey smiteme,
Do you mean you will have a student visa for Hong Kong?
If so you will need to have a HKID, and with a HKID you can get to a lot of places with an at-the boarder visa.
Its been a while since I got my first multiple entry, as I remember back then the path was to follow a grade. First single entry, next time double, finally multiple.
Getting China visas in HK is quite easy and the China Travel service (travel and visa agents with offices all over here) will do all the foot work for you for a small price, I found this to be very useful because they know just what to say and do to improve success.

Enjoy your time here, it is a great launch pad into China. I'll mostly be in other places by the time you arrive, so doubt I can offer much on-the-ground support, but I'll be available in the forums if you need.

If you are referring to coming in to the mainland then yes they have already been eased off and you can get multi-entry visa's in Hong Kong. I am not sure whether the restrictions placed on African countries has been lifted though as I havent been across there in the last fortnight. I am going to the Bledisloe Cup Rugby there on the 1st Nov so I will see what I can find out.
Is your X visa for the mainland? I dont know what HK calls their's.
