When you are about to embark on a round the world trip, there are many ways to share your trip with family, friends, and others. You can individually write a letter/postcard to each and every person on your mailing list. (Not!) or you can join the revolution and use the web to effectively communicate your journey.

Here are a bunch of ways that I have seen work.

1. Create an email list – you may already be on one of these., Your mate has gone on a trip and blasts out updates of his/her trip via email. It’s in text format, and unless the formatting is pretty, this way can often be a drag to read. But it is down, dirty and cheap. Most web based email accounts let you create group lists to easily do this.

2. Publish Through BootsnAll - Yeah - we have a pretty big travelogue sectionand 2 editors to make you look pretty and tell the world about your trip. It's easy and all you have to do is email your updates to our editors and they take care of the rest. To learn more Check out this link.

3. Sign up for an online journal sharing company – these companies/websites allow you to create journal entries, upload pictures and create mailing lists so you can create a more graphical representation of your trip. Here are a few:

Trekshare
TravelPod

4. Buy your own domain name – and publish while you are on the road. This can be a bit more expensive and complicated, but the results can be amazing if you know what you are doing. Start your search for a domain name here. It's only $15 per year!

There is a lot more involved with #4 - but to see a great example of what someone has done, look at the Mad Nomands.

This is a good start...I have more thoughts on this, but let's here what others have to say before I spout more...

Cheers,
Sean
