I just went skydiving for the first time

Skydiving wasn't nearly as scary as Bunji Jumping.

Skydiving was like jumping into a really big map. Everything is so far away, it's abstract. When you're standing at the Bunji ledge, you can see all the sticks, stones, and shart stuff at the bottom. Way more real...

Plus, on a tandem skydive, you don't really get a choice about when you go. For the Bunji, you actually have to will your legs off the edge.

Haven't yet had the Bunji experience. However, I can say that having to cut away your main chute and then pull your reserve cord does cause a bit of an adrenalin rush the first time it becomes necessary.

aopaq: That sounds pretty gnarly. Definitely more of a scary than my (one-and-only) tandem dive.

PS: Are you really in Nunavut? Have you seen darkness in the last few weeks? I'm jealous, but only cuz it's July.

For me the big rush came right after the hard landings under my reserve. I should point out that it is important to look down and locate your reserve cord after you cut away your main. One time I was pulling a bit on a strap before I realized I should look and find the cord (as instructed).

Skimaxpower: Yes I am in NU but pretty far south so we get about 3 hours of dark now. Of course when I used to live at 69 degrees latitude, it was nothing but light.

I went skydiving in Wanaka, New Zealand during winter...I was scared that it would be so cold that I wouldn't be able to breathe...The tandem was great, I sat on the wing of the plane and then the guy jumped off...It was incredible...

I was more scared when I went bungy jumping, here I had to jump off the bridge myself!
