Figure out the best way to get from Central to South America, when you should book your accommodations for Carnaval and local language school recommendations. If it's on South America, it's in this forum.

Does anyone know of a website that lists which injections are absolutely necessary, and which are just recommended, for different countries in South America? The Travel Doctor charges $150 for a consultation, then the cost of the injections on top of this. I will be traveling in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru and back to Brazil.

If I can save myself the $150 and do my own research, that would be great.

Thank you very much.

Try this one for the US CDC site for Chile but you can link to other countries from it.

That travel doc is a bit greedy IMO

I doubt you'll be able to avoid the $150. The clinic is going to want you to meet with the doctor before they give you any shots.

The local Canadian`travel clinic I went to charged $60.00 for the consultation with the RN who went over my list of countries & the times of the year I planned to visit, took roughly an hour to go through everything. She then had to run everything past the doctor before administering the couple shots required the next day.

Consultation + shots were less than $100, therefore it is my opinion based on what I paid, that the doc at the travel clinic the OP visited is being greedy!! :sus:

*note that a visit to travel clinics in Canada are NOT subsidized in any way

Not disputing that it's a lot. Just saying a consultation charge is unavoidable. No clinic is going to let you "self-medicate".

http://Www.mdtravelhealth.com great CDC info site with vaccines listed by country. The only one that
Is required usually is the Yellow Fever jab certification for Bolivia entry and crossing borders
From a Yellow Fever country.

You can usually find YF jabs cheap at board of health clinics or in country when

You get there they are even FREE in some places like Buenos Aires
