My husband and I will be arriving in India next week. Other than the Taj Mahal and Jodpur, what else should we see/do? We have a very flexible schedule- we will be there for at least one month, possibly longer if we're having a good time.
We also plan on hopping into Nepal for a few days. Any suggestions where to do this?
TIA

there is a lot to see in India, depends on what you like.
its a good time to go to the South, North India will be cold - esp the mountains, but beautiful nonetheless.
since you will be in Rajasthan, you might also want to check out Jaipur, Jaisalmer and Udaipur.

it is miserably cold since there is no central air conditioning..unless u live in teh pricey hotels...dress warm...just pick a region and stick to it. india is huge. nepal will be miserably cold aswell. u shld do a quick golden triangle trip. which is fly into delhi. chk it out - red fort, humayuns tomb, akshardham temple, bahai temple, and teh rest. take teh bus (volvo, runs from jaiselmer house i think) for a couple of 100 rs to jaipur (6 hrs) chk out teh several sites. go to jaiselmer, udaipur jodhpur etc and then take teh train or go by road to agra to check out the taj mahal etc. i would recommend u stay at the bharatpur bird sanctuary (it might be the siberian crane time, cant quite rbr when they migrate) an travel from there to agra. u can even do fatehpur sikri from there. agra is not very nice so no point staying tehre. train to delhi and ure golden triangle is done. if ure headed to nepal, go to kolkatta and uy can do teh darjeeling etc..north east. if it is cold just go south...kerala....

I loved Jaipur, Jaisalmer and Udaipur and I also then went to Agra....dump try to get there early in the morning, see the Taj (awesome), then get out!!! I went to Varanasi next which was amazing.
I started my trip in Mumbai....found it to be too expensive for my budget trip, I then went to Goa, but wish I would have gone down to Kerala.
I wouldn't say miserably cold, go to wunderground.com and look up delhi or jaipur, etc... and they give you the weeks forecast...I just looked and Delhi was in the low 70's!
You will love it! Have fun...Namaste

You must head to himachal , its a must see , there are nice places there like Dharamsala, solan , mceoglung , manali etc
if you want to take a bus around there , if you are on a shoestring budget then try booking your bus tickets online , only take the volvo ... you could go to http://www.ticketvala.com and they have a couple of buses for himachal ... it will be darn cold out there , carry warm wear, and enjoy the hot milk on a cold evening.
Wish you the best

Head south, young person!!!
I never got to see Kerala, and I hear it's among the most precious parts of India, as well as southern India. Don't forget to see the erotic temple along the way.....
Goa is cool, but unless you have months and months, there will always be the beach.
